Better Broadband for Whittle Hall & Chapelford

UPDATE: Excellent News! BT have confirmed that both the Exchanges that serve Chapelford and Whittle Hall will be upgraded by the end of 2014. This will mean residents will be able to access Superfast Broadband by the end of this year!

Live in Chapelford or Whittle Hall? Fed up with slow Broadband speeds?

Finally, help is now at hand!

Many properties on the estate receive their broadband through the Westwood telephone exchange off Lovely Lane. Sadly BT have previously said that upgrading the Westwood Exchange so that it can provide super-fast broadband would not be commercially viable.

However as part of a Government Scheme to roll out superfast broadband across the country, Cheshire East & West, Halton and Warrington Borough Councils have been given a pot of £28.5m to help people and businesses access superfast broadband.

As a result, I am pleased to report that the Westwood Exchange is now "Under Evaluation" meaning that BT will be looking again at the demand for broadband in the area to see whether an upgrade is needed. The central Warrington Exchange which serves parts of Whittle Hall is also due for an upgrade this month.

It is important that everyone who has struggled with slow broadband in the past - or who just would like to be able to access faster download speeds - registers their interest with the Connect Cheshire programme.
